From the 2022 runway shows to independent jewellery designers, beaded jewellery shows no sign of fading.
The past year has seen a huge increased in searches for personalised, beaded jewellery and it comes as no surprise, as our desire for personal connections has shifted since the pandemic.
Reminiscent of times past, beaded jewellery can add a playful statement to a minimalists wardrobe and makes the perfect, personalised gift for family and friends. Whether you prefer to stack your bracelets or wear a single piece, beaded jewellery is much more than a trend, it’s a sentimental statement. Jewellery continues to be a vessel for joy post covid, as we continue to turn to jewellery as a way of communicating and keeping our loved ones close.
Whilst jewellery trends tend to stick around longer than fashion, there is no denying that personalised, custom-made jewellery shows no sign of decline. Whether it be an initial, a nickname or the names of those important in your life, the desire for playfulness and sentiment remains. Whilst dopamine dressing has seen a rise in popularity as we looked to brighten our pandemic mood, this too has extended into our jewellery, as bold colour combinations and positive messaging adorn our limbs.
There’s no mistaking that jewellery has always been personal. It’s an emotional purchase rooted in personal loves and sentiment. Much remains the same, and beaded jewellery, albeit different, has become a new way of showing ‘who you are’ as we layer initials, names and phrases across our wrists. Positive affirmations have transcended the digital world of self-care and shifted into physical keep sakes, which bring added comfort to our new normal. Beaded jewellery is less about trends per se and more about a sustainable and sentimental approach to the self. People are looking to make conscious decisions about their purchases, from fashion through to jewellery, and personalisation is the trend, if you will, which champions this sustainable approach. Sentiment remains, as does jewellery with a personal touch, both of which forward a viable, sustainable and emotional purpose.
Whether you’re team minimalist or maximalist, there are no rules when it comes to beaded jewellery. Rules are there to be broken and that is what is so special about beading, it can be custom-made for the individual and works well layered with other pieces you may already wear.
